Start of the CET 2nd Edition

The 2nd edition of the Technological Specialization Course (CET) in the field of materials, metallurgy and metal-mechanics started last December.

Following the same structure of the 2016/2017 edition, this CET aims to prepare graduates to integrate a rapidly growing industry in Portugal. For 48 weeks, the fifteen enrolled students will receive training in order to become qualified professional technicians to develop design, analysis, characterization and material inspection activities in the planning, production and final evaluation of product quality.

The CET is a level 5 training program, according to the European Qualification Framework, and it appeared from the industry’s need to hire professionals with such qualifications.

The responsible training entity for this course is the CINFU, Centre of Professional Training of the Foundry Industry, which relies with CITNM’s collaboration. The theoretical and practical classes are divided between the CITNM and CINFU’s facilities respectively. The course is co-financed by the European Union's Social European Fund and the Portugal 2020 - North 2020 Operational Program.

An established protocol with the Faculty of Engineering from Porto University provides, for those who successfully complete the CET, the equivalence in 17 ECTS to access superior education in the Integrated Masters in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering.

This edition’s beginning was marked by the testimonies of students from the previous edition, which had an employability rate above 90%.
